Inside AGJ: Meet Jason Baker, Production Supervisor

Jason-12-Years-FB

In this staff spotlight, we catch up with Jason Baker, our Production Supervisor, who has just completed 12½ years with the company. Read on to learn about his journey with AGJ, his passion for machine development, and his love for motorbikes.

From Apprentice to Production Supervisor

Jason joined Andy Guest Jetters back in 2012, at the tender age of 17 years. Unlike many who have held multiple jobs, Jason’s career has been fully dedicated to AGJ. Starting as a welder/fabricator while completing his NVQ Level 3 in welding, he quickly progressed to machine building. His dedication even took him to the Netherlands, where he trained with the team in Tilburg to further refine his skills in machine assembly.

A Job That’s Never the Same

One of the things Jason enjoys most about his role is the flexibility and variety of tasks. From working on machine development to directly liaising with customers, every day brings new challenges and rewards. Customer interaction, in particular, stands out for Jason, as he finds great satisfaction in helping clients and receiving their positive feedback.

Advancements in Jetting Technology

Over the years, Jason has seen major advancements in jetting machine technology. “Machines have become more advanced, incorporating more electrical components and system diagnostics, making them easier and safer to use,” he explains. The shift to petrol engines alongside diesel has also been a significant development. Right now, Jason and the team are working on the latest 3-Series, the most advanced petrol jetter AGJ has ever built.

Looking to the Future

When asked where he sees himself in five years, Jason is clear: he wants to continue driving innovation. “I really enjoy the development side of the business. With new machines like the 3-Series and the 1-Series stack system in the pipeline, there’s plenty going on,” he says. He also hopes to collaborate more closely with AGJ’s sister companies in Holland and Germany, who are leading the way in industry advancements.

Life Beyond AGJ

Outside of work, Jason’s free time is mostly spent with his partner of ten years and their three-year-old daughter. However, when he does get a moment to himself, motorbikes are his passion. He currently rides a Honda CRF 450 XR, sticking to the roads despite its dual-sport design. He recently sold his Suzuki LTZ quad bike after spending two years rebuilding the engine.

A Dream Destination

If he could visit anywhere in the world, Jason would choose America. “It’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go,” he says.

Best Dressed at AGJ?

On the workshop floor, most of the team wears company-branded gear, but when it comes to style, Jason tips his hat to Tony and his leather jacket.

With over a decade of experience and a passion for innovation, Jason is a key part of AGJ’s success. We can’t wait to see what he and the team accomplish next!
